Alexis’ first bath at home

Thursday Oct 4, 2007

Alexis had her first bath at home last night. It went pretty well without too much yelling. Big sister Sophie was on hand as well. She kept asking “is she going to scream?”. I said I didn’t know, but maybe. Enjoy the pictures.

Alexis Jo has arived at 2:33 AM on Sept. 29th. She’s 8lbs 3.5oz and 21in long. Mom and baby couldn’t be doing any better. Lexi has a website www.lexianderson.com but my web host seems to behaving some problems adding the site. So until tech support can fix the problem, we will just post some pictures here.

How will you get the baby out?

Monday Sep 17, 2007

So I was putting Sophie to bed last night, tucking her in and telling her that I was going to make daddy put up the shelf next weekend. Unless we were having a baby next weekend. She got all excited and said she was excited for the new baby next weekend (funny, since she made the assumption and doesn’t realize I’m guessing too.). Then something occurred to her… “How will you get the baby out ?”. I said the doctor and mommy will figure that out. She says “But there’s no hole..” with a puzzled face. I said ‘we’ll make one’ and she says ‘how and where?’ and I said, don’t worry about it. Mommy and the doctor will take care of it.

She then also proceeds to tell me she doesn’t want to go to the place. I think she was a bit freaked out seeing Aunt Melanie after her c-section, sorta stuck in her bed, not feeling quite herself yet. She does love the fish tanks they have, so hopefully that’ll help her at least come visit, and I’ll do my best to be up and around before she comes, so she doesn’t see me all stuck in a bed. She said she wants me to bring the baby home instead. I said I would, but I have to stay there a couple days first. She says she’ll miss me, and of course I’ll miss her too, but Daddy and Grandpa will take care of her. And she can come see me and the new baby. Then she got mad cuz I wouldn’t tell her the names we have picked out. Stinker.

Preschool and the Doctor

Thursday Sep 6, 2007

Sophie loves her new preschool. As far as we can tell anyway. She’s excited to get there every morning and can’t wait to see what the kids are doing when she gets there. This week we’ve both taken her, but next week I will get her up and ready and Brian will take her on his own. Then I will pick her up and when the baby comes, Grandpa Jerry will probably pick her up alot of the time when he can, but certainly while we’re in the hospital. She doesn’t always like what they serve for lunch, but yesterday she said they had hamburgers and she ate alot, so I think it’s going fine. She also doesn’t love going to the potty by herself – she told me the potty had a black top and a hole in it (which means the seat isn’t a solid oval, but has that stupid space in the front for whatever reason). Otherwise, I think she’s doing well and really likes having somewhere to go to play. Mommy is pretty boring I guess. I miss her, but it’s nice to work uninterrupted for a change and we’re saving so much on juice now 🙂 Today the calendar said “Musical Numbers” so hopefully they’ll do some number practice for preschool.

I also had a doctor’s appointment today. GBS test and exam, no big deal. Turns out I’m at 2 cm, 50% and still high. Baby won’t drop until labor most likely but I love the 2cm. That’s definitely the right direction. I forgot to ask what I was measuring at (as far as weeks, etc). So hopefully now that i’m on to weekly doctor visits, I really hope there won’t be too many more. Two more visits would be ok, two more week. We need to get Sophie’s new dresser and the baby’s dresser moved over, but otherwise that’s about it. I suppose we better get out the car seat and pack a bag for the hospital too. Getting close now.

Preschool

Wednesday Aug 29, 2007

We’ve been swimming alot this summer and Sophie is still the fish she always was. She does really well with arm floaties and hopefully we can get her out of those next summer. She’s had preschool this year as well as summer preschool during June and July this year which she really enjoyed and misses her friends. We’ve also made a big trip to Rhode Island this summer for Aunt Emily’s wedding. She did really great on the planes and we all had a really great time. Sophie really enjoyed Emily’s dog, Jack and she was the perfect flower girl. It was a really great trip all around.

Sophie starts a new preschool on Tuesday, Sept 4. She’ll be going all day (it’s technically a daycare with a preschool program) to allow me to work and finish cooking this new baby. It’ll also prepare her for kindergarten next year. We’re not thrilled about the cost involved, but Sophie really needs friends to play with during the day and I can’t possibly balance an infant, 5 year old AND 40 hours of work per week. She’ll be attending Asbury Daycare and Brian will be taking her every morning on his way to work. I’ll pick her up around 4pm (depending on a couple of things like baby schedule and workload).

Baby #2 is due October 1. Right now we’re measuring about a week and a half ahead, so perhaps we’ll be blessed enough to go a week or so early. I would really love that. Pregnancy is highly overrated.

Bun in the oven

Tuesday Mar 20, 2007

Ya ya. We don’t update this much. We’ve been busy. Baby number 2 is set to arrive September 29th or thereabouts. Heard the heartbeat today at 170 beats and all is well. Hopefully morning sickness will be over soon as well.
